Discussions and demos involve the question of abstraction, and what does it mean to paint that way?

We will discover the underlying foundation of good design through experimenting  with shape and its relationship to the whole.

Not only shape but all important line, value, texture and color will be shown as interwoven components of a total design, and how these are used to employ principles of design.

You will receive 10 pages of workshop notes, compiled by me to offset the distraction of note taking during demos and other activities.

Line, shape, value, texture, and color are the benchmarks for our foray into design and what truly is the underlying foundation for any painting.

What makes a painting stand out?

Design design design design design design design design design and  more design.

Our discussions, powerpoint presentations, demos, instruction, and critiques will be information packed. Painting demonstrations will highlight those things we implement to make a work stand out.

You will be furnished with 10 pages of background notes to use alongside workshop instruction.

You won’t have to be so distracted writing down stuff and will be able to concentrate on the subject on screen.

A typical workshop day:

Discussion on composition and technique followed by a morning painting demonstration.

PM

Will be painting time for participants.

Instructor finishes demo.

Instruction and critiques.Find the power Sierra through the strength of your shapes.
